Health and Safety FAQs
SIGNS OF ILLNESS
Any child with a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher may not come to school and will need to be fever-free for 24 hours before returning to school.
Other signs of illness that can exclude a child from attending school include the following: unusual lethargy, irritability, persistent crying for no reason, non-clear runny nose, more than slight cough, difficulty breathing, diarrhea, vomiting, rashes and any other symptoms pointing to a contagious disease.
Children should also be well enough to participate in all indoor and outdoor activities before returning to school.
CAN I BRING MY CHILD WITH A RUNNY NOSE TO SCHOOL?
We can only care for children with mild cold-like symptoms who are otherwise feeling and acting well. Mild cold-like symptoms are: clear runny nose, slight cough, and no fever. If you are unsure if your child should be brought to school, please call and check with us.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN MY CHILD BECOMES SICK DURING SCHOOL HOURS?
If a child becomes ill during school hours the parents will be contacted to pick up their child. Parents need to pick up their children within one hour of being notified. If parents are not available, the emergency contact person will be notified.
WHEN CAN I BRING MY CHILD BACK TO SCHOOL?
A child must be fever-free and symptom-free for 24 hours before returning to school. If the child is taking antibiotics for an illness, the child may return to school after the initial 24 hours of beginning antibiotics as long as he or she has a temperature under 100.4 degrees F, is no longer contagious, and is otherwise feeling well enough to participate in our daily schedule. Please notify us if your child will be absent because of illness. If your child is home for more than 5 days, you must bring a signed physician’s statement when returning to school.
WHO CAN PICK UP MY CHILD?
Only the parents and emergency contact persons designated by you with the person’s name and relationship to your child will be allowed to pick up your child without advanced written permission.
DO YOU NOTIFY PARENTS OF CONTAGIOUS DISEASES?
State law requires that we notify parents of children who have been exposed to certain contagious diseases. Please notify us if your child becomes infected, so we can inform all parents.
COVID-19
We follow the guidelines of the CDC on how to operate a child care center with regards to COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.
ADMINISTERING MEDICATION
We are only allowed to administer medication accompanied by a physician’s note which states the child's name, date of birth, the name of the medication, and the dose and frequency of administering the medication. We also need the medication in its original container and a consent form signed by you.
MEDICAL EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

Child's parents or emergency contacts are called.
-
Child is separated from the other children and appropriately cared for.
